The “Arsenal of contemporary art” broadcast is the main direction of the Visual Communications Lab’s work within Nizhny Novgorod branch of the National Center for Contemporary art.
The team of TV-professionals is in charge of the broadcast production. A broadcast unit records all significant events from contemporary art sphere not only in Russia, but also in Europe. The broadcast is made with proper equipment. A group of authors has created more then 50 transmissions during the years of broadcast’s lifetime. Scope of production comes to 2 programmes per month.
The broadcast creators are aimed at showing central events and main individuals of contemporary art process. A spectator has the opportunity to become a participant of an opening day, to get impressions from the event, to be acquainted with art critics’ grades, to visit artist’s studio and to see the process of work of art creation. It is more important for inhabitants of regions, who can rarely be the “eye-witnesses” of contemporary culture events, which are concentrated mainly in administrative centers of Russia and the world.
In involves materials of shooting form the Videoarchive. It includes 840 hours of exhibitions, festivals, actions and also workshops and interviews with artists and cultural workers videodocumentation. The archive is available for TV companies (Betacam and Dvcam formats) and for spectators on DVD – discs.
The Videostudeo collaborates with artists and helps in art projects documentation and creation of video.
The Videoart Collection includes more then 200 works. Works of modern Russian, Ukraine, Polish, Czech authors and also works of classical authors Nam June Paik, Bruce Naumann, Vito Acconci, Bill Viola, Peter Fishley, David Weiss, Marina Abramovich are among them.
